The Edit That Started It:
In middle school, I was bored one night and made an edit of model Cara Delevingne—alluding to her niche, characteristic love of bacon—using a free app on my iPod that I then posted to Instagram. To my surprise, Delevingne ended up reposting the edit on her Instagram account, amassing nearly 500,000 likes and earning my edit features in American Vogue, Glamour, Grazia, Daily Mail, Good Housekeeping, and more. After the edit went viral, I asked my mom for Adobe Photoshop as a gift for my 14th birthday.
I continued making edits while I learned graphic design, which ultimately garnered attention from other celebrities like Rihanna and Karlie Kloss, and my account gained nearly 40,000 followers. I had no intent with my edits (beyond having fun), and it was then that my love for graphic design and the digital medium was born.
(A quick note: As you can see, my watermark was cropped out in the lower left-hand corner of the image... an early lesson in the importance of visibly crediting your own work!)
